Punya Foundation is a charity organisation. It was registered in South Australia in June 2010.
Mission
- Punya Foundation was established as a charity in 2010 in Australia with a mission of Justice through Education and Empowerment. It operates on the principle of social justice.
Aims
- The Foundation aims to empower unprivileged children through provision of scholarships for their primary and secondary education
- The Foundation works to seek justice through empowerment of vulnerable women, victimised families and their children and migrant communities.
Objectives
- To contribute to self-reliance and empowerment of blind, orphaned, poor, vulnerable, and underprivileged children through education.
- To institutionalise social justice and peace organising empowerment and psychosocial support programs to victims of social injustice, destitute, trauma, violence, widows, refugees, and migrant communities.
- To contribute and promote community collaboration through engagement, investment, partnership, career counselling and job-oriented trainings.
- To build and manage community garden, community centre, multipurpose hall, place of worship, retirement village and investment opportunities for education, community engagement, participation, and to practice and promote language, culture, spirituality, and religion and enrich Australian multicultural society.
- To promote health organising health advocacy, outreach clinics, and mobilise resources and extend emergency relief during natural disasters and calamities.
To realise its mission of “Justice through Education and Empowerment”, the Foundation works for social issues targeting vulnerable population.
- Education and Scholarships: The Foundation promotes education through mentoring needy students, providing tuitions and through provision of scholarships to orphan, poor and vulnerable children.
- Empowerment: The Foundation provides micro-finance projects to empower women victims of rape and sexual assault in developing countries.
- Health and Relief: The Foundation engages in various health issues like provision of counselling to victims of trauma and sexual violence and through various health projects. It provides emergency support to victims of natural disasters and calamities.
In each registered country, the Foundation has a board of executives and or directors. They meet on a regular basis as mandated by the country specific constitution – to plan, appraise, monitor and evaluate projects and progress against the set objectives. The Foundation has country specific implementing partners in each country where projects are running. The implementing partners organise themselves as a committee and take responsibilities in project planning, analysis and implementation. A representative of the Foundation communicates with the implementing partner on a regular basis; who in turn updates to the board/executives. Implementing partners are required to submit progress reports and an annual report in accordance to the memorandum of understanding. The Foundation’s representative/s may attend major project events like scholarship distribution, monitoring and evaluation sessions with or without prior information to the implementing partner. This ground analysis is done for monitoring and evaluation and to exercise utmost transparency for appropriate utilisation of donors’ money. The Foundation is accountable and responsible to its donors. It provides regular update of running programs, circulates new letters and publishes annual reports.
Target groups of the Foundation are those people who need support to live a dignified life. The Foundation assists orphans, poor, underprivileged and rendered vulnerable children with their education. It focuses on welfare of women victims of rape, sexual assaults and domestic violence through counselling, mediation programs, adult education and micro-finance projects. The Foundation also mobilises resources and extends emergency assistance during disasters and natural calamities. To assist people like migrants and refugees, the Foundation organises integration programs, cultural activities, job-oriented training programs and provides psychosocial support. Targeting poor women, the Foundation organises various health projects.
